Devotchkas was a four-piece American Oi! punk band from New York City. Their name is derived from the novel/movie A Clockwork Orange where “devotchka” is the Nadsat word for “girl” (originally from the Russian word of the same meaning). An all-girl group, the band was formed by three friends in 1996. The early period saw drummers come and go, including Jon from The Krays. Wanting a regular drummer, they eventually recruited Gabrielle to complete the line up. In 2000 they released their first LP. They were signed to Punkcore Records shortly after and released two more albums.*
